TRAIN HARD, RECOVER HARDER WITH ACTIV7 BATH SALTS

After the unrivalled success of their recovery oil, Activ7 have added a new product to their arsenal. Activ7 have been kind enough to send me their latest recovery bath salts to review. But do they work?

No one in the UK CrossFit competition sphere can say they haven’t heard of or smelt activ7 recovery oil. It’s everywhere, and there’s a good reason for this. I’ve had first-hand experience of using activ7 oil in and out of competitions to aid recovery, and it works. The recovery oil’s success lies in its unique and natural blend of 7 essential oils. The new bath salts have the recovery oil and more, and so I couldn’t wait to try it out.

Instruction 2: ‘create a relaxing atmosphere’…

The bath salts contain activ7 recovery oil, sea salt and 120g of magnesium to ‘aid the recovery of muscle soreness and stiffness’. When I read that the salts had oil in, my first thought was that I didn’t want an oily bath. This wasn’t the case. The bath salts come in a handy resealable pouch and contain a serving cup. The instructions recommend using 1-2 scoops; I added one to begin with but later added two when I saw that the bath didn’t turn oily. I found the salts didn’t dissolve straight away and so I gave them a helping hand by mixing them into my bubble bath. I followed the instructions and took a 20-minute soak.

I hadn’t had a bath in so long, and this was a perfect excuse to get one. Most of my soreness was in my legs. I rubbed a few salt crystals into the problem area of my quads; I found that this decreased soreness and stiffness in this area. My quads weren’t 100% perfect afterwards, but I noticed a definite improvement. My skin also felt soft and silky which was a bonus. With training five days a week and sweating a lot, I often get dry skin, and this seemed to clear it up nicely.

There isn’t an immediate impact like with the activ7 recovery oil, but a more gradual effect over time. I found that the magnesium and oil from the bath salts soak through the skin to help soothe joints and fatigued muscles.

I definitely recommend activ7 recovery bath salts and can’t wait to try using it after competitions and throughout the CrossFit Games Open.

  1. There’s nothing like a relaxing bath after a hard exercise. I take baths straight after my long runs. I am not a fan of ice baths.
I generally use lush products (not cheap) and if i can find a more scientific approach to bath time recovery than “it turns the water a nice colour and smells lovely” then I’m game

  2. Awesome review. I like the “train hard, recover harder” philosophy. It’s so true. With the Open you have really challenging workouts, with the possibility of maybe having to repeat if you didn’t like the first set of results. All that on top of your normal training regimen.
This whole product line is definitely something I will have to look into.
